The Hagerstown YMCA Youth Sports programs are designed to give your children a safe learning environment, where the focus of the Programs is on Physical, Social, and Mental development. A few of our programs are competitive programs, but most are based upon learning the fundamentals of the Sport while learning the four core values of the YMCA of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility.

YMCA Youth Sports have modified rules to maximize Fun and increase sportsmanship and Fair Play.

The YMCA relies on Community participation for our programs to run successfully. We have over 200 volunteers a year creating great programs for your children, so please consider being a coach! Come and experience what it feels like to teach a child the importance of being physically active , and how sports can become an integral part in everyone’s lives.

The YMCA has created a Boys and Girls Youth lacrosse program that is just booming with excitement and numbers of players. We have teams for both, boys and girls, K through 8th grade. We are glad to be a strong feeder program for the locals High Schools. Lacrosse clinics are offered Summer/Winter and with leagues play in the Spring. Please click here to read more about our Lacrosse Program. This is a recreational/competitive league that plays games against teams in Washington and Frederick Counties.

Girls Volleyball League

This developmental league is for girls in Grades 3-8. Divisions are:  Grades 3-5 and 6-8. The YMCA offers this In-House program in the Fall and Spring of each year. Girls are taught all the proper skills to develop and enhance their volleyball play as well as in-game positioning and strategy. Teams are formed through player evaluation to make sure all teams and play are competitive and fun for all. Teams practice once during the week with games on Saturdays.

Spring: February Registration/Begins March

Co-ed program designed for kids ages 4-7. Must be four by season Starting Dates. T-ball is run in the spring. This In-House program is designed as an introduction to Baseball with fundamental coaching of Fielding, hitting off  Tee for Hand-Eye coordination, Running Bases and being part of a Team. Fun, Fun, Fun of being part of a game is emphasized…everyone plays the field and everyone bats.

Spring: February/March Registration/Begins April

YMCA offers basketball leagues for boys and girls ages 6-14. Our Fall league begins in September and our Winter League begins in January.  These In-House Leagues are divided into three divisions: Ages 6-7, 8-10 and 11-14.  Modified rules allow us to emphasize fair play, skill development, self-discipline and control, as well as equal playing time.

The YMCA offers a Coed program for ages 4 to 13. There are three separate sessions of soccer: Fall Outdoor, Winter Indoor (Futsal), and Spring Outdoor. Within each session, we offer divisions for Tots Soccer, Ages 4-5; Lil Kickers, Ages 6-7; Elementary, Ages 8-10 and Middle School, Ages 11-14.

Fall League: July Registration/Begins August

Spring Leagues: February Registration/Begins March

TOTS SOCCER (Ages 4-5):

Players take part in fun soccer activities where every player uses a ball and participates in discovery games. All games follow our age specific curriculum which focuses on key skills of social interaction, agility, balance, and coordination. Players participate in 60 minute practices once a week (Saturdays), focused on fun soccer activities.  Friend requests are accepted to help with the social development of each player.

LIL KICKERS (Age 6-7):

Players participate in 60 minute practices once a week, focused on fun soccer activities and a game session (usually 60 minutes) on the weekend to reinforce those skills. Once players have developed a love for the game players are encouraged to move onto the the Recreational programs with the YMCA.


Our Recreational Program is designed to meet the needs of the majority of youth soccer players. It is an open program in which players of all abilities are invited to play and enjoy the game. Every child is guaranteed playing time in an environment that places participation, fun, and skill development above winning. Recreational teams are coached exclusively by volunteers.
