Infant/Toddler Teacher:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the classroom and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistant:

Under the direction and supervision of the Early Childhood Director, the assistant teacher will supervise and guide a child’s development in a safe and healthy environment.

Teacher for Before and After School Enrichment:

Under the direction of the Base Director, the Base Teacher is responsible for planning and assisting with the daily program as it relates to children and their classroom activities. Major emphasis is on program excellence and developing quality care of the highest standard. The Base Teacher will assist ongoing program continuity by ensuring that scheduled program and facility use plans are followed and applies MSDE regulations and standards.

Lifeguard

How this role contributes to the Y’s mission: 

As a Y Lifeguard, you will be responsible for the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the Y swimming pool during operating hours. You will be supported in your work as a part of the leading mission-driven organization for strengthening community, and the area’s largest provider of swim lessons. You will be responsible for the safety of all swimmers and the chemical conditions in the pool. You will work to safeguard the health and safety of Y members, participants, and guests. As a Y Lifeguard, you’ll contribute to the Y and to the community by enhancing the well-being and safety of all.

This work is right for you if you have:

• A love of swimming
• The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
• The ability to pass a swim test
• A willingness to obtain the Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid certifications, if you do not currently have them


Swim Instructor

How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:

As a Y Swim Instructor, you will have the opportunity to teach children and adults the joy and life skill of swimming and safety in and around the water. You will be supported in your work as a part of the leading mission-driven organization for strengthening community, and the area’s largest provider of swim lessons. The Y Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students of all ages in swimming classes. You’ll contribute to the Y and to the community by enhancing the well-being and safety of all.

This work is right for you if you have:

  • A love of swimming and of helping youth and adults learn
    • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
    • A willingness to obtain Swim Instructor, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid certifications
    • Reached the age of 16
 

Swim Instructor Assistant

Provides direct leaderships, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. Acts as a liaison and champion for YMCA Programs.

Minimum age of 15. Be available days, evenings, and weekends to help with swim programs. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills and proficient swim class management skills.

Group Fitness Instructor

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modifies class as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: Required certification: nationally recognized Group Exercise certification. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred. Ability to conduct classes and activities.

Assistant Gator Swim Team Coach

YMCA of Hagerstown, Maryland is searching for a responsible Assistant Swim Team Coach who has a strong background in coaching and is committed to providing a positive swim team experience for our swimmers and their families. Position is part-time/evenings/ 2- 10 hours per week and some weekends for meets.
